Cross-Chambers Mentoring Scheme
This mentoring scheme is run by ten barristers’ chambers and supported by the Planning and Environment Bar Association. It aims to encourage talented students from groups underrepresented at the Bar to consider a career as a barrister.
Programme structure
The 2026/27 scheme runs from November to June. Successful applicants receive between three and five one-to-one meetings with a mentor, an introductory workshop, a workshop on pupillage applications and at least one social event with mentors and other mentees.
Who it supports
The scheme is open to undergraduates and postgraduates from underrepresented backgrounds, including women, people from minority ethnic backgrounds, disabled and LGBT+ people, care-experienced applicants, first-generation students and people from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds.
