Mentoring Program Overview
The Norwegian Sports Federation (NIF) annually organizes a mentoring program for female leaders in Norwegian sports. The overarching goal is to increase the proportion of female leaders in sports by offering an arena for personal development, professional replenishment, and networking across the organization.
Program Details
The program has a participation fee of kr. 3000, which covers:
- Course leader
- Lunch
- Venue
- Travel and accommodation expenses for the mentor
Mentors do not receive any salary, and the respective federations/sports districts must cover any travel costs/accommodation and literature for mentees.
Structure of the Program
The program is designed to facilitate an optimal collaborative relationship between the mentee (adept) and mentor. It consists of:
- Three gatherings spread over ten months in the Oslo region
- 8-10 meetings between mentor and mentee, each lasting approximately 1.5 hours
Frequent contact is recommended initially to lay the groundwork for good cooperation. While physical meetings are preferred, digital meetings via Skype, phone, and email are also acceptable. Some preparatory and follow-up work related to the gatherings is expected.
