BI Norwegian Business School: A Commitment to Inclusive Learning
BI Norwegian Business School emphasizes a good and inclusive learning environment across all campuses, where diversity among students is valued. Close cooperation between students and employees is key to success, and this collaboration occurs at multiple levels, including:
- Regular dialogue meetings between the student organization BISO and BI's management
- Interactions within studies on campus
- Engagement in the Learning Environment Committee (LMU)
Over the past three years, BI has introduced various measures to improve the start of studies, enhance social and academic integration, and strengthen individual follow-up. In 2020, over 100 students helped support the academic development of fellow students through BI's guidance scheme with learning students. This program is a form of mentorship where more experienced students guide newer students.
BI also actively works to:
- Reduce dropout rates
- Increase completion rates
To facilitate communication, BI conducts dialogue meetings between class representatives and lecturers at all campuses, where lecturers publish a summary with action points for the entire class. Additionally, program evaluation meetings are held every semester between:
- The Associate Dean
- Student representatives
- The academic administration
The number of student representatives on the Program Committee for executive and PhD programs has also been increased to strengthen student involvement.
In 2020, three student surveys were conducted related to:
- Digital teaching
- Digital examinations
- Courses taught according to the new teaching model
The results from these surveys have been used as a basis for:
- Pedagogical workshops with departments
- Information for management meetings
- Further strategic work
The establishment of the Library and Learning Centre department in 2019 has further strengthened capacity and strategic development in research, teaching, and learning.
