Innovative Reverse Mentoring Program
The Norwegian Sports Federation (NIF), in collaboration with Catalysts, has launched an innovative reverse mentoring program, an initiative designed to increase diversity in Norwegian sports.
This program is unique in that:
- Sports leaders are assigned young leadership talents with minority backgrounds as mentors.
- The leaders themselves are also learning, creating a reciprocal learning process where traditional roles are reversed.
Main Objectives
The main objective of the program is to:
- Create a deeper understanding of why there are not equal opportunities to succeed in Norwegian sports today.
- Introduce more perspectives and experiences.
This initiative is a significant part of a broader effort for diversity and inclusion within sports.
Program Structure
The program spans several months, until March 2024, and is structured with:
- Three physical joint meetings
- Three individual meetings between the mentor pairs
The program is led by Catalysts, a recognized entity in diversity, inclusion, and mentoring.
Mentor Pairs
Several mentor pairs are listed, consisting of:
- Sports leaders from various sports districts and special federations
- Young leadership talents with minority backgrounds
This demonstrates a concrete implementation of the program's goal to promote diversity at the leadership level.
