- Mentees: Brave members of the SPE Student Chapter who want to gain industry insights and career guidance from an expert in the field. Requirements: member of the University Student Chapter, undergraduate or master's student (unemployed), communication of needs and objectives to the mentor, contact with the mentor at least twice a month, registered on the SPE eMentoring portal.
- Mentors: Any SPE member willing to invest time to help students in their professional and personal growth. Requirements: SPE member with paid membership fee, active professional in the energy industry, role model, contact with mentees at least twice a month, encouragement of participation in industry activities, registered on the SPE eMentoring portal.

Mission and Objectives
The Mentoring Program of the Romanian Section of SPE was launched in 2017 by the Young Professionals of the Romanian SPE Section. Its main mission is to facilitate the transition of students from being students to becoming young professionals in the energy industry. The program aims to assist students in defining their academic direction, providing opportunities to gain industry insights and career guidance from experts, motivating, training, and preparing them for changes in the professional environment.
Duration of Commitment
The mentoring relationship is designed as a 7-month commitment, although many pairs continue their activities beyond this period. This flexibility allows for adaptation to the individual needs and pace of development of each participant.
Expectations and Responsibilities
Mentors:
Mentors are expected to inspire, encourage, and support mentees, contributing to their professional and personal development. They provide:
- Professional experience
- Discussions about industry trends
- Advice on defining and achieving goals
- Tips for job interviews and CV reviews
- Recommendations for further education or development
- Academic guidance
Mentees:
Mentees must take a proactive role by:
- Communicating their goals and aspirations
- Being open and honest
- Allocating time for the process
- Planning discussion topics for calls
- Responding to feedback in a timely manner
Both Parties:
Maintaining regular contact (at least twice a month), setting clear and realistic goals, being responsive, providing honest and constructive feedback, facilitating self-reflection and self-development, and honoring commitments are essential for the success of the mentoring relationship.

- Creating a structured document on Drive/Cloud with meeting schedules
The program has recorded increasing participation over the years, with the 8th edition (2023-2024) having 13 mentors and 18 students. The success of the program is attributed to the voluntary work of the organizing team, mentors, and mentees.
