NHH's Mentoring Program for Master's Students

NHH's mentoring program for master's students is a systematic arrangement designed to provide significant learning outcomes for both students and alumni. The program pairs a master's student with an experienced NHH alumnus, who follow each other for two semesters, from autumn to spring.

Program Goals

The main goal is to provide students with guidance on career and professional life, helping them navigate questions such as:

  • Work-life balance
  • Entrepreneurship versus working in large consulting firms
  • Practical skills like job searching and interview techniques

Meeting Structure

The pairs agree on how and how often they will meet, with a recommendation for monthly meetings. The conversations are student-driven, where the student decides which topics to discuss with the mentor.

Joint Sessions

The program also includes mandatory physical and digital joint sessions for all participants. These sessions, conducted in English, provide tools and methods developed in collaboration with the consulting firm AFF. Examples of sessions include:

  • Student Master Class
  • Mentor Master Class
  • Kick-off
  • Mid-term seminars
  • Concluding session

The Kick-off and concluding sessions include a social event after the academic part. NHH encourages physical attendance on campus for the in-person meetings to create a more favorable environment for relationship building, but digital participation options are available, especially for alumni living abroad (e.g., Houston, Boston, London, Zurich).

Mentor Motivation

For mentors, the motivation is often a desire to give back to NHH and the opportunity to get to know a new generation with different perspectives. This can provide experienced leaders with new knowledge and contribute to their own leadership development.

Matching Process

The program emphasizes matching pairs based on the student's desired field or industry and the mentor's expertise.
