Norwegian Union's Mentoring Program

The Norwegian Union's mentoring program, run by Soroptimist Norway, is a career-oriented initiative whose main purpose is to guide foreign women with higher education and good Norwegian language skills. The goal is to help them seek relevant employment or advance their careers in Norway.

Program Objectives

The program is specifically designed to meet the needs of this target group, who often face specific challenges in the Norwegian labor market. The program structure involves:

  • Regular, individual counseling sessions.
  • Defining personal goals by the mentee.
  • Mentors acting as discussion partners and guides.

This personal focus ensures that the guidance is tailored to the individual's needs and ambitions.

Joint Meetings

In addition to the individual meetings, joint meetings with presentations and discussions on topics related to the Norwegian labor market are usually organized. These joint meetings also provide a valuable opportunity for participants to:

  • Expand their network.
  • Make new contacts with other women in the program.

Participation and Mentorship

Participation in the program is free for mentees. Mentors are Soroptimists who have undergone specialized training in mentoring and guidance, and they have varied experience from Norwegian working and social life. This ensures that mentees have access to qualified and relevant guidance.

How to Participate

Women interested in participating can:

  • Contact their nearest Soroptimist club to inquire if they plan to implement the program.
  • Contact the mentoring program's advisory group directly via email.
