The Czech Association of Mentoring in Education (ČAMV)
The Czech Association of Mentoring in Education (ČAMV) is a key organization that has been actively dedicated to the development and promotion of mentoring in the field of education in the Czech Republic since 2013. Its main mission is to enhance the quality of education and support the professional development of pedagogical staff and their competencies.
ČAMV views mentoring as practical support for educators, enabling their personal growth, helping them define their work goals, and subsequently evaluate them effectively.
Main Activities and Goals of ČAMV
- Development of Mentoring as a Field: The association focuses on both the theoretical and practical aspects of mentoring, which includes research, dissemination of best practices, and creation of methodological materials.
- Support for Pedagogical Staff: ČAMV provides existing mentors in education with space for further professional growth and a platform for collegial sharing of experiences. The aim is to cultivate a supportive environment and strengthen mentoring skills in pedagogical practice.
- Educational and Information Activities: The association brings together individuals and organizations that support the quality of pedagogical work through educational, informational, and research activities for both professional and general public. An example is the "Cesta" (Path) project, where educators underwent a program of personal-social development and professional skill enhancement, thereby gaining competencies for implementing internal mentoring and lecturing activities.
- Awareness Raising: ČAMV strives to ensure that mentoring is perceived as a useful tool for improving the quality of education and as a means for the continuous professional development of teachers and other educators.
Although ČAMV itself is not a program that individual students or external interested parties would directly apply to as mentees in the traditional sense, its activities have a fundamental impact on the quality of mentoring in the Czech education system. By supporting the development of mentors and mentoring programs within schools and educational institutions, the association indirectly influences and improves opportunities for students and novice educators who encounter mentoring as part of their academic or professional paths.
