The University of Pardubice Mentoring Program
The University of Pardubice Mentoring Program is a comprehensive initiative focused on the professional and personal development of doctoral students and early-career academic and research staff. The program offers three main forms of activities:
- Individual Mentoring
- Peer Mentoring
- Group Educational Events
Forms and Program Flow
Individual Mentoring
This form is based on personal consultations with an experienced mentor who shares knowledge and experience from various fields. Topics may include:
- Setting career goals
- Experiences from scientific and pedagogical practice
- Managing administrative or interpersonal problems
- Assistance with choosing a study/work abroad trip
- Facilitating professional contacts
- Advice for harmonizing professional and personal life
Peer Mentoring
This is a less formal form where peers share experiences. Examples include:
- Assistance from senior students to newly enrolled doctoral students
- The introduction of new employees to a team by more experienced colleagues
Group Educational Events
These include seminars, lectures, and workshops focused on developing soft skills that support personal and professional development. Participation in these events is voluntary and allows for meetings and sharing experiences with other mentees.
Program Duration and Application
The program runs during the academic year from October to June and is intended for both domestic and international doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, and early-career academic and research staff at UPCE. Application is possible via a registration form or direct contact.
The program begins with an introductory workshop that helps mentees form an idea of their focus, choose a mentor, and establish contacts. Mentors can be from UPCE, outside the university, or they can be peers.
