k+ Mentoring Program
k+ mentoring is a program of the Career Center of VŠB – Technical University of Ostrava, which connects experienced professionals with less experienced VŠB-TUO students for career and personal development. The goal is to transfer knowledge, experience, and contacts that will help students better orient themselves in the world of work and kickstart their careers.
How the Program Works and What It Offers
- Application and Mentor Selection: Students choose a mentor from the offer and submit an application with a video profile. Applications are usually submitted by the end of March. After the deadline, pairing takes place, where mentors select their mentees. The program coordinator tries to connect all registered students.
- Meetings with a Mentor: Meetings take place from April to June, at least three times, but there can be more by agreement. They can be in person or online. Topics include consultations, sharing experiences, advice, and concrete steps for career advancement. Collaboration on a project or "shadowing" in a company's operations is also possible.
- Program Duration: Mentoring usually lasts 2 to 3 months.
- Feedback and Certification: After the program ends, the mentee receives feedback from the mentor and a certificate of completion, which can be added to their professional portfolio. In June, a final meeting and networking event are held for all participants.

The program is also suitable for students who do not have clearly defined goals.
Role of the Mentor
A mentor is an experienced professional who provides expert support, advice, actively shares experiences and contacts, provides feedback and motivation, and helps define realistic goals.
The VŠB-TUO Career Center also offers preparatory workshops that help students clarify their expectations and prepare their video profiles.
