Mentoring for JA Student Companies
Mentoring for JA Student Companies is a key component of the educational programs offered by Junior Achievement Czech (JA Czech), an organization focused on developing entrepreneurship and financial literacy among young people. This program provides high school students with a unique opportunity to receive direct guidance and support from experienced professionals. The aim is to help students who establish and run their own student companies with practical aspects of business and with developing key skills for their future careers.
How Mentoring Works at JA Czech
Role of the Mentor
Mentors collaborate long-term with a group of students (a student company) from October to April, with a time commitment of approximately 15-20 hours. Their tasks include:
- Sharing their experiences, advice, and know-how in business.
- Helping students solve real business challenges.
- Motivating students for further development.
Conferences and other supportive events are organized for mentors.
Support for Student Companies
The program assists students with various aspects of business, including:
- Logo design and promotional videos (TopLogo competition).
- Preparation for trade fairs (JA EXPO).
- Solving innovative challenges (Innovation Camp).
Mentors can also serve as judges in competitions or trainers in workshops.
Skill Development
Students gain practical experience in:
- Company management.
- Teamwork.
- Marketing.
- Sales.
- Financial management.
The program fosters entrepreneurial thinking and prepares students for entry into professional life.
Community Engagement
JA Czech actively involves parents, judges, and trainers, creating a broader community that supports young entrepreneurs. The goal is to maximize student participation and provide as many opportunities as possible for practical learning.
Mentoring at JA Czech is a voluntary activity, but it offers mentors the opportunity to contribute to the development of a new generation of entrepreneurs and help ensure their future success.
