IMDi Together for a Job Mentoring Program
The IMDi Together for a Job Mentoring Program is a comprehensive initiative designed to help immigrants and refugees with higher education find relevant employment and utilize their competencies in the Norwegian labor market. The program addresses the challenge that many immigrants are overqualified or unemployed, a problem affecting both individuals and society as a whole.
Challenges Addressed
The main barriers the program seeks to overcome include:
- Discrimination
- Lack of networks
- Insufficient Norwegian language skills
- Limited insight into Norwegian work culture
Mentorship Connection
The program connects mentees with mentors who have experience in their specific industry in Norway. Mentors contribute with:
- Guidance
- Networking
- Valuable insight into Norwegian working life
Meanwhile, mentees bring new perspectives and increased awareness of diversity and inclusion.
Program Duration and Support
The program lasts six months from the matching of mentor and mentee. Participants receive:
- Individual support from their mentor
- Access to workshops and courses
- Opportunities for networking with companies through program partners
Ongoing Recruitment
Recruitment for the program is ongoing. In addition to mentoring, "Sammen om en jobb" offers a digital learning and networking platform with resources such as:
- Courses
- Webinars
- Networking opportunities
This platform supports both mentors and mentees throughout the program and enables cross-connection networking. Mentees can also choose to make their profile visible to employers who use the network for recruitment.
Professional Groups
The platform features dedicated professional groups (e.g., engineers, IT professionals, teachers, economists), allowing participants from across the country to exchange experiences.
